Vendor lock-in does not announce itself. It arrives as a monthly bill that is too small to question and a dependency that is too deep to leave.
A school signs up for a tutoring tool. Two years later its entire operation depends on a foreign account, a price it does not control, and an internet link it cannot guarantee. The tool is good. The position is fragile.
